Credit for previous learning

Transfer credit and credit for prior learning (CPL) may be applicable toward your degree.

All transfer and CPL credit must be completed prior to starting any program in the FlexPath format. Any professional certification or external courses taken concurrently with FlexPath enrollment cannot be recognized in the Capella degree program.

Frequently asked questions

Applicants to the BS in Business program must provide the following information for admission:

  • Admission application – no application fee required
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • A transcript of any reported GED
  • 4.5 credits eligible for transfer. See Sophia Admissions Pathways as an option to obtain credits.
  • Applicants under the age of 24 must also submit a high school transcript verifying graduation
  • A valid, government-issued form of photo identification

SAT and ACT are not required for admission.

International and FlexPath applicants will be subject to additional admission requirements.

A library of 16 Sophia courses, aligned to your area of interest and professional application, are available to Capella applicants and are eligible to be applied toward select bachelor’s degree programs at Capella. Explore all no-cost gen eds through Sophia, or focus your time with the Bridge to Bachelor’s in Business. Courses are 100% online and may satisfy degree requirements, so you can take them at your own pace, whenever it’s convenient. Plus, textbooks and other course materials aren’t required.

With FlexPath, you can take courses at your own speed and move on to the next one when you’re ready. Our self-paced learning format helps put you in control.

The FlexPath learning format offers flexibility – and support – to help you fit earning a degree into your busy life. Set your own deadlines. Use what you already know to progress at your own pace. And take advantage of one tuition fee every 12-week billing session to help lower costs. Books, supplies and other fees apply.

Compare that with our GuidedPath learning format, which offers structured learning with the flexibility of 24/7 access to the courseroom. Set deadlines help you stay focused and motivated. You’ll engage with peers for weekly discussion posts, and instructors provide regular check-ins and feedback on assessments. Tuition is billed on a pay-per-credit model for 10-week courses. So, you can plan out your degree to fit your schedule and budget.

The Bachelor of Science in Business is offered online exclusively. The program is available in our GuidedPath learning format, and select specializations within the program are available in our FlexPath learning format.
